I’d like to apply for the open Special Events Manager role at SF Ballet. I believe my skill set matches your requirements for this role, as ideating, leading and producing creative events, experiences and projects has always been my passion throughout my professional career so far.
A bit of my story: I am originally from Colombia and over the last decade have spent time studying and working in Germany and Spain, and have been permanently based in California since 2020. To date, my professional career has been split between creative design within the non-profit and social impact world, and event ideation and production. My experience has focused on projects that give to society, embrace change, and have innovation at the heart of it.
From an event production perspective, my skill set spans curating events, overseeing budgets, managing production timelines and co-ordinating speaker schedules in order to drive success and efficient results. For example, I’ve produced and facilitated Hackathons and workshops for non-profit and been involved with large-scale productions such as TEDx Barcelona (where the audience can go up to 800 people in the annual events), collaborative projects with indigenous leaders, social leaders, innovators, immigrant activists, makers, disability collectives, just to mention a few.
After a couple of years within the events space, I embarked on one of my most meaningful experiences, founding OurLinks, an organization based in Barcelona where the main objective was to promote collaborative events and safe spaces for inclusive dialogues through training, projects and experiences. This gave me the opportunity to position myself as a connector between artists, designers, companies, funds and students; to help turn ideas into a reality. I feel I have the transferrable skills to be a highly effective Special Events Manager within your team and am excited by the SF Ballet, its mission and impact in San Francisco cultural scene. My creative background, persistence and self-confidence have given me the ability to be extremely resourceful and efficient with ideating and producing events and collaborative projects, overseeing processes and goals, making colleagues feel important and valued, promoting and raising everyone’s voice, ideas and opinions to build the connections needed to enhance collaboration.
